Backroom is a woman-owned digital agency specializing in brand strategy, activation, & systems optimization. Backroom believes in embracing humanity and putting people first to set themselves apart from other marketing firms. I was tasked with creating and collaborating on a new brand identity for the company that better reflected their people-first ethos and professional warmth. This expanded into creating a branded illustration library, branded assets, merch design, social media campaign and assisting in the company’s web design. The brand has a retro nod to the warmth and exuberance of the 70’s; a time similar to now when women were challenging the status quo. The brand stands out in a crowded and overly corporate world of marketing. While competitors are stripping down their brands to minimalistic same-ness, Backroom charges in the opposite direction; leaning into an identifiable personality and embracing humanity which is reflected in the brand visuals.
